📜 Read the analysis to find out what to expect from the first debate.
With just 5 weeks left to US presidential elections and polls showing that anything is still possible the first debate (starting 2:00am BST on Wednesday) is much anticipated. These are 3 key things to watch:
- Is Joe Biden really sleepy?
While constant criticism from Trump for being sleepy and indecisive isn’t striking, Joe Biden also drew some criticism after Democratic debates in the past. Undecided voters might want to see that Biden, already 77, is fit and full of stamina to serve the full tenure as the POTUS. This actually might be the most important thing tonight.
- Can Trump make his case on the economy?
Polls show that Trump is seen as doing a better job on the economy so he will try to discredit Biden in this area. How will he handle questions on still high unemployment rate?
- How will discussion on social issues evolve?
It could look like pandemic response and racial protests provide easy ammo against Trump. But going too far on these issues could also harm Biden among moderate voters. Will he find the fine balance?
Market to watch: US100
There is a consensus that Biden win could be harmful for tech stocks so his strong showing could complicated the case for bulls that are trying to put the recent correction behind them.
