Q3 financial reports from big US banks released last week turned out to be strong, allowing US indices to cap their best week since July. There were signs that lending momentum has improved in the third quarter of the year and may have finally approached an inflection point after last year's slowdown.
However, banks were stars of the first week of the US earnings season and it is already behind us. Now the market's attention shifts to companies that are set to report their Q3 results this week. Over the next couple of days investors will be offered reports from some top US tech companies, like Netflix, (Tuesday) Tesla (Wednesday), IBM (Wednesday) or Intel (Thursday). In the case of Tesla, Intel and IBM, attention will be on semiconductor - how current shortage affects Tesla's operations and how it affects pricing of chips from IBM and Intel. When it comes to Netflix, investors will as usual focus on subscriber numbers following a decent quarter for the company's share price.
