Economic calendar is almost empty on the final trading day of 2021 as the only noteworthy readings - China PMIs - had already been released at 1:00 am GMT. Manufacturing sector unexpectedly edged up to 50.3 in December from 50.1 a month earlier, beating analysts’ expectations of 50.1, while the services sector rose to 52.7 this month from 52.3 in November. This was the fourth straight month of expansion in services activity and the strongest pace since September. Liquidity conditions will be thinner today as stock markets in Germany, Italy and Spain will be closed, while Paris and London will trade for half a session, ahead of the New Year. US markets will be open for a full trading session, except for the bond market which will close early. The lack of stats will leave COVID-19 news updates to continue to influence.
