Midterms elections and US CPI report later this week
Futures markets point to a slightly lower opening of the European cash session today. China said it remains committed to maintaining its Covid-zero policy and taking quick actions at tackling coronavirus outbreaks. Oil and industrial metals are trading lower on the news. Interestingly, indices in Asia-Pacific gained with Chinese Hang Seng rallying almost 3%.
Economic calendar for the day ahead is almost empty with only the European Sentix index for November scheduled for release. However, this data rarely has an impact on the markets. Traders will also be offered speeches from ECB President Lagarde and 2 Fed members - Collins and Mester. While Monday may look boring, things get much more interesting later into the week with the release of the US CPI report for October (Thursday, 1:30 pm BST) and US midterm elections on Tuesday, November 8.
