The latest weekly report on US jobless claims was released at 1:30 pm BST today. Report was expected to show a slightly lower initial jobless claims than a week ago and a small uptick in continuing claims. Actual report showed that while the initial jobless claims came in slightly higher than expected, a drop was recorded in continuing claims.
- Initial jobless claims: 264k vs 260k expected (262k previously)
- Continuing claims: 1759k vs 1785k expected (1775k previously)
US dollar ticked higher following the release although the scale of the move was rather small. EURUSD moved around 0.1% higher before paring gains slightly. US indices moved higher with US500 testing 4,400 pts area.
