Litecoin and other cryptocurrencies prices rose sharply following a suspicious press release sent out by GlobeNewswire that referenced a partnership with Walmart. According to the release, the giant retailer intends to allow shoppers to make payments with Litecoin. However Litecoin itself didn't tweet about the partnership with Walmart. Later on, Walmart spokesperson confirmed the press release is not authentic.
Litecoin - the news caused the price of litecoin to soar almost 30% to $236.00 and the price of bitcoin reached almost $47,000 level. However buyers quickly gave up the gains and Litecoin pulled back below $187.70 and price is currently approaching an upward trendline. Source: xStation5
