UK Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation today in a statement at 1:30 pm BST. This comes after a day-long chatter about such a possibility. Truss met earlier today with the Chairman of the 1922 Committee, a Conservative Party body that oversees leadership votes and changes. It looks like enough is enough and as she lost support from her own party, she decided to resign. She will, however, remain in the post until a successor is chosen, just like Boris Johnson did. GBP gained on the news with GBPUSD testing 1.1300 handle but a big part of the move has since been erased. UK equities also gained.
