Amazon (AMZN.US) is set to reduce the number of logistics centers and warehouses in the face of slowing sales growth, the consulting firm MVPVL International reported. The company estimates that Amazon has abandoned plans to open 42 warehouses and is delaying the opening of 21 additional centers. The reduction is also affecting the company's business in Europe, particularly in Spain. In October, the e-commerce giant will close two centers, currently employing 300 people.
The current situation particularly highlights the difference from last year, when Amazon increased employment for the pre-Christmas period.
