Riksbank to deliver rate hike at 8:30 am BST

CPI data from Canada, housing market data from US
European index futures point to a higher opening of the European cash session following improvement in risk moods that occurred yesterday in the afternoon. Oil is trading slightly higher while cryptocurrencies drop slightly. Precious metals trade mixed - gold and silver drop while platinum gains. EUR and GBP are G10 top performers while NZD, AUD and CHF lag the most.
While key macro events of the week, like the FOMC or BoE decision, will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, economic calendar for today also offers some interesting releases. Riksbank is set to announce a rate decision and economists are divided on whether it will go for a 75 or 100 basis point rate hike. Canadian CPI report and US housing market data for AUgust may offer some short-term volatility for USD and CAD traders. CAD may also move during speech from BoC Deputy Governor Beaudry. Last but not least, API report on US inventories in the evening will be an event to watch for oil traders.
